Welcome to the picturesque country setting of the Hawkesbury Valley. Beautiful rolling hills covered in wild bushland and the complex river systems of the Hawkesbury, Nepean, Colo and Macdonald rivers. National parks cover almost three quarters of the Hawkesbury region, providing ample areas for camping, horse riding, bushwalking, water skiiing and fishing.

Windsor & Richmond - historic towns

Established by Governer Lachlan Macquaire in the late 1700's. Windsor was the thrid European settlement in Australia after Sydney Cove and Parramatta.

Royal Australian Airforce Base

Richmond RAAF base was the first Air Force Base established in NSW. The annual airshow at the base attracts people from all over Australia, however, you can see RAAF planes, including the giant Hercules in action all year round.

Stop off along Windsor Road at the local and take in the views.

 

 

The Three Sisters

The famous rock formation in the scenic Jamison valley at Katoomba. Sit back and take in the spectacular vistas of the valley that was formed over 100, 000 years ago or take the trail and climb to Three Sisters themselves.

You can also see a array of native parrots here that are frequently fed at the information centre. A must for anyone on the tourist trail.

 

 

 

Bush Walking

The Blue Mountains has hundred's of bush walking trails for the most experienced of us to the novice. Well suited for the canyoning adventurer or the day walker who would like to take in the amazing landscapes and prehistoric fauna. The National Parks and Wildlife Authority have maps of the various trails and grades and can provide tips and safety advice.

Penrith Whitewater Stadium

Penrith Whitewater was the competition venue for the canoe/kayak slalom event during the Sydney 2000 Olympic games and is the only man-made white water course in the southern hemisphere.

The venue is now open to the public and provides a great thrill of a day for the whole family.

Featherdale Wildlife Park

Featherdale holds the largest private collection of Australian native animals. Get up and close to many of Australia's famous species; koalas, tasmanian devils, echidnas, emus and hand feed the kangaroos and wallabys.

Sydney Olympic Park

The home of the Sydney 2000 Olympics. The venues continue to be used for sporting events as well as concerts, festivals, markets and the annual Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Only a 20 minute drive from A-Vina, the venues are now open to the public to use the facilities. Tours are also available.

 

 

 

Eastern Creek International Raceway

From the mighty V8 Supercars Championship to special edition car races and Superbikes - the Eastern Creek International Raceway has something for every car enthusiast.

The public is welcome to attend the regular race meetings, take a practice drive around the circuit or take part in one of the advanced driver training courses that are offered.
